In order to continue what we found to work so well during our self care project in Cullompton, we needed a new place to be. So we now have a new hub in the centre of Exeter, on Cathedral Close, where we can meet up, connect people, teach, get busy, hold classes, be creative and have a great time. This time it is not centred around a cafe but it will have the same excellent coffee. We are a social enterprise community interest company.

Email from Eve - Textile Artist
Eve will be running our craft workshops on Tuesdays noon -1:30pm from Tuesday 12th June (next week). Our Tuesday crafting session are magic.
Hello,
I am writing to introduce myself, as starting from next week I will be running the lunch time crafts, on Tuesdays at the Hub.
My name is Eve Malster, I am an artist and mum and have run many creative things in exeter over the last ten years.
I specialize in textile based crafts, especially felting. Over the next 6 weeks we will explore button making, 3D needle felted items and other little projects. If there's anything you would like to try as a project...nows the time to tell me :0)
So next Tuesday (the 12th) we will make fabric covered buttons using remnants of fabric. If you have any fabric you would like to bring; it needs to be no thicker than sheet cotton or medium silk. Also, if there's time, we will sew them on to card backing so they are 'gift worthy'! If you have any interesting card packaging we could cut up...please bring that too!
Really looking forward to meeting some or all of you!
Eve
Three Day Week!!!
The bank holiday weekend has gone and it was quite a weekend. The Exeter Respect Festival was amazing as always and it just keeps getting bigger and better. We spend all day at Exminster Fete on Monday expecting to pop by and say hi to Rachael from Little Stitch at her stall and then move on to Exmouth Festival but we were having such a good time we stayed and stayed.
Tuesday was a washout and my favourite sister and her clan were camping at Lyme. The ventured into Exeter as I had sold them the Party on Exeter Quay idea. When we arrived we found some very soggy and windswept crafters packing away their goodies and the Wellcome Trust tent being held to the ground by the Wellcome Trust team. So we headed into The Waterfront and ate pizzas in the dry and worked our way through a pack of origami paper. Then we headed to the hub. I have a tiny living room...not ideal for entertaining the masses but I do have a hub. Finn was practising his Diabalo tricks, David read the papers on the sofa, Rosie and Lottie put on a show (inspired by the last Make and Take session with The Craft Hub ladies), I made bunting, Alice played on the typewriters, my sister Tama went shopping for a new camp bed and brought back cake and mum looked after us all on the coffee and washing up front. It was the perfect playspace.
It was hard to get my head in gear yesterday. It took a while to stop calling the day Monday.
Today Bruce starts his new FREE Fun with Numbers classes which will run until July 12th.

Lots of people stayed in yesterday. It was such a rainy day. At lunchtime we made bunting. Lovely Sharon who was our ideas and interior decor woman at our cafe suggested we use the green man on our logo, pop him onto bunting and people decorate him. So we did and they look great. If you would like to join in with the bunting we will be making it over the new few weeks...

New Baby Massage at the Hub
Do you have a colicky baby? Do you believe in the benefits of positive touch for growing babies? Would you like to meet other mums and dads and chat through parenting topics such as sleep and weaning? The Hub has the perfect space: carpeted, sofas, coffee and cake to follow and it all starts Friday 15th June.
Groups are small for individual attention, so book the five week Baby Massage course early (no later than 12th June). Email clare@babieslovemassage.co.uk or call 07866 217297.
It's been quite a week...
It has been an amazing week. As huge amount has been achieved at the hub this week.
Yesterday Simon and I had our planning meeting. We startes in reception but it was too distracting, so we moved to the sofas in the hub but there were lots of interruptions so we headed onto the cathedral green but there were no empty benches. Then we had the inspired idea of taking our wicker sofa onto the green. It worked really well. This morning I had a post of Facebook next to the picture from a lady who was so pleased when we stood up to go thinking she could grab a bench and then gutted when we took our seat with us.
I had a great meeting with Rob from Magic Carpet and Peter Kyrke-Smith about their choir which meets in the hub on Tuesday mornings. There are going to be some more developments on that front soon. I am putting the Hub Pixies to work and putting the word out that we would love a hand-drawn poster for the choir. There is certain information that needs to go on but the design can be anything wonderful. If you are interested in having a go (there is no prize or payment - this is about lovely people helping us out) then let me know.
Tuesdays at the hub are now all about baby. Babyccino and NCT Bumps and Babes are going to alternate starting at 1:30pm. The calendar on the right-hand side of this blog will let you know the dates. Another great website for all things baby is www.exeterbabyactivities.co.uk. Their calendar is great at letting you know what's happening on the baby front.
They were handing out free cupcakes in town. I managed to collect one for Darren who works with us that matched his jumper...
Last night I went to a networking meeting for social enterprises and cooperatives on social media. It was really useful. I met a lady who is new to the area and setting up parenting groups. She told me that the hub had been mentioned to her numerous times since she arrived. That makes me happy.
I got back home quite late after collecting my Lottie from a friend's house. Today is jubilee day at school and we blinged up Lottie's scooter, nails and hairband. We were greeted at school by the Queen (amazing what a headteacher can do with a mask, a headscarf and a wave). I have a jubilee bracelet on so I don't feel left out. Hannah (crafting group) had a packet of snazzy paper chains and some glue dots...instant quality bracelet :)
